In QLD, the Security Providers Act 1993 and related regulations require that anyone providing security services (such as monitoring, alarm response, access control, or installation) must hold the appropriate individual security license. If a business or company is providing the same services, they must hold a Class 2 Company license. Hiring an unlicensed provider is illegal and can result in fines or legal consequences for both the provider and the client.
Unlicensed or unqualified providers may:
Lack proper training in handling emergencies or configuring equipment correctly.
Expose you to risk if their system fails, or if an incident occurs and they respond improperly.
Invalidate your insurance. Some insurers will reject claims if you used unlicensed or non-compliant providers.
